● Japanese Conversation—20 Fr / 60min

This is a conversation class focused on simple, everyday Japanese, making it accessible even for complete beginners. Whether you're thinking, "I don't understand anything yet, but I want to try speaking Japanese," or aiming to introduce yourself and greet others in Japanese, this class is for you. It's also perfect for more advanced learners who may have learned the language but have no one to practice with, or who simply want to engage in natural conversation with native Japanese speakers.

Upon request, we can also cover more polite forms of Japanese such as keigo, as well as casual expressions, slang, abbreviations, and onomatopoeia often used in daily conversation.

● Basic Japanese Language—30 Fr / 60min

This course is designed for beginners who wish to acquire a solid foundation in the Japanese language, starting with the basics of the writing systems―hiragana and katakana. While conversation practice remains a key component, learners will also develop reading skills essential for further language acquisition. By learning to associate Japanese sounds with their corresponding written forms, students can expect a more integrated and effective learning experience.

This course is particularly recommended for those who aim to sing Japanese songs at karaoke, read Japanese books or manga in the original language, or pursue more advanced studies. Ongoing participation is encouraged for those who wish to build fluency over time.

Unlike conversation-only classes, where students often rely on romaji (Romanized Japanese), this program emphasizes reading and pronunciation using authentic scripts. This approach minimizes romaji-related pronunciation errors and enables learners to understand the nuances of Japanese phonetics from the outset.

● Let's Sing in Japanese!—30 Fr / 60min

Singing in Japanese can be different from speaking it ― the pronunciation, rhythm, and the way words are broken up all change when you sing. In this class, you'll learn how to pronounce Japanese naturally while singing, how to follow the rhythm, and how to make your performance sound more authentic and confident.

You'll choose a Japanese song you want to sing, and we'll go through it together, line by line. I'll prepare the lyrics for you in both romaji (Roman letters) and hiragana/katakana. If you can read hiragana or katakana, it will make learning even easier ― so combining this class with the Japanese Foundations class is also a great idea! And since I'm from Okinawa, we can even learn an Okinawan song if you're curious .

This class is all about singing for fun in Japanese. It's not formal vocal training ― just a relaxed space to enjoy the language through music.

※Sessions are available from 9:00 to 15:00 (Swiss time).

● Specialized Courses—100 Fr / 60min

This course is based on the field of study that Mari Nerome explored in depth while writing her doctoral dissertation "Research on Expressions Using the Katazome Technique." It covers the historical background of the traditional dyeing methods katazome and nori-bōsen (Stencil Dyeing and Resist Dyeing with Paste), explains their processes, and introduces representative artists along with discussions of their works.

Anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the traditional techniques of Japan and Okinawa is warmly welcome. As the course involves many technical terms, the content will be tailored to each participant's background and needs. For this reason, I kindly encourage you to contact me in advance if you wish to enroll.
